Is there a theme that I need to show in my photo(s)?
- “Kearnyscape” photos should be of a land-, water-, sky-, or city-scape, building, or monument within the Kearny town limits, including South Kearny;
- “What Community Means To Me” photos should demonstrate the Sesquicentennial theme of “150 Years of Community.”
- No. Photos must be taken during 2017, Kearny’s sesquicentennial year.
- You may take your photo either using film or a digital camera.
- Photo may be in Black & White or Color, with minimal editing only (cropping, light and color balance; no compositing or filters).
- Photo must be 8”x10”, printed on photo quality paper; and
- Mounted on an 11”x14” piece of black tag board (oak tag); and
- Include an arrow on the back of the submission indicating the top of the photo.
What do I need to include with my contest submission?
- Each photo must be submitted with a Release and Entry form as well as Model and/or Property Release forms if applicable to be eligible.
- One entry per category per person.
- Eligible contestants must be current residents of Kearny, in Kindergarten or older, who are amateur photographers (may not earn more than $500 annually from photography work).
- Nothing; no entry fee is required.
- Eligible entries must be received by JWCA on or before 9/20/2017.
- Entries may be submitted at the Kearny Library Front Desk (Main Library & Branch Library),
- Town of Kearny Kearny Clerk’s Office; or
- Kearny UEZ office; or
- Mailed to JWCA, P.O. Box 61, Kearny, NJ 07032; or
- Delivered in-person to any JWCA member.
- Blind-judging will be done by a panel of judges selected from the local Kearny community; judges’ decisions are final.
- Winners will be revealed on Sunday, 9/24/2017, from 2pm – 4pm at a Reception held at the historic Firehouse at 72 - 74 Halstead Street, Kearny, NJ.
- No; the winner does not need to attend the reception on 9/24 to win.
- No; all photos become the property of the JWCA and will not be returned to the contestant.
- Photos may be used by the JWCA, the Kearny UEZ, and/or the Town of Kearny, in any medium, for any purpose.
